DIYs + TUTORIALS
LET'S MAKE STICKERS!
For anyone who has known me personally for any length of time, they can tell you with confidence that if I want something my first thought is "Can I make it myself?". Well, I found myself wanting some stickers to personalize my I-pad and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to utilize some of my favorite digital illustrations to make the stickers myself.
If you are looking for a simple DIY to add your own flare to your water bottle, laptop case, phone case, etc. using items you already have, just follow the simple steps below.
STEP BY STEP STICKER TUTORIAL:
- Collect Your Materials
Drawing or printed artwork that you would like to turn into a sticker
Scissors (Pro tip: cuticle scissors are great for cutting out small detailed shapes)
Parchment Paper
Clear Packing Tape
2. Cut out your art.
(Pro tip: If your design has small details leave a small white border around the edge of the artwork to simplify the cutting process)
3. Cut a piece of parchment paper large enough to fit your artwork and cover it with tape.
(Pro tip: Adding tape in straight lines and slightly overlapping each new line of tape helps create a seamless finish)
4. Place your cut out artwork on top of the layer of tape you just made.
(Pro tip: If making multiple stickers be sure to space them apart a little to make the final cutting process easier.)
5. Add a layer of tape over the art, sandwiching the art between both layers of tape.
6. Cut around your art leaving about a 1/16" border or larger. This will ensure your artwork remains sealed between both layers of tape and will not be damaged.
6. When you are ready to use your stickers peel the parchment paper off of the back, stick wherever you would like, and ENJOY!
BONUS TIP!
Use your scraps.
I wish you happy crafting my friends! If you follow this tutorial and want to show me your fabulous stickers, I would love to see. You can email photos to me at MNTtheArtist@gmail.com.
